As an aid to help me
clean up my skin, remove a few impurities and mainly tackle my
problem with blackheads I was on the search for a good, thorough yet
sensitive clay mask. I definitely wasn't on the lookout for anything
too harsh such as the likes of those peel off masks, after hearing
how bad they actually are for your skin. I began to browse on Etsy as
I wanted to buy a product that wasn't mainstream and also put my
money toward a smaller and more independent company. I came across
Aromawakening founded by Gráinne
Nash, who produces all of her products by hand with natural
ingredients. Nash's products are cruelty free, vegan and packed in
eco recyclable packaging, so I was pretty much sold already. I had
spotted the Green Tea & Green Clay Mask which had plenty of
reviews from very pleased customers, so I decided to give it a go.
The anti-oxident face
mask reduces redness and irritation whilst drawing out impurities and
toxins from the skin. The mask contains green tea, green clay, adzuki
beans, baking soda, turmeric root extract, spearmint and lavender
oil. The mask comes in a powder form which you mix with water to
create the face mask, and smells strongly of the spearmint and
lavender oil. On the packaging Gráinne
suggests to add any extra ingredients you may want in your face mask
such as jojoba oil, honey or yoghurt for extra nourishment, which I
think is such a wonderful idea. Depending on how I feel, I will
sometimes add argan, vitamin E, or almond oil to the mixture.
One of my favourite
things about this mask is the fact that it also works as a face
scrub. I'm still yet to use the product as just a face scrub, as I've
only been using this as a mask. Its suggested that you leave the mask
on for around 5-10 minutes, but sometimes I leave the product on for
longer. I use a hot wet flannel to gently scrub the product away. As
this face mask turns into a paste it can get quite messy, so I would
suggest putting the mask on over the sink, and trying to keep the
product away from the eyes and mouth as much as possible.
In total you get 120g
worth of product, and I think I paid around £11-14 inc postage,
which is great considering that you only need about a teaspoon of
powder for each mask. The very first time I used the Green Tea &
Green Clay Mask, my skin was instantly clear and luminous. I love
using this product as a pick me up, when I feel my skin is looking a
bit dull and of course, for treating those horrible blackheads. This
definitely packs a punch and helps to reduce imperfections, and it
has a massive thumbs up from me for being home made and natural.
Gráinne is currently on
maternity leave so her products are unavailable at the moment, but
I'm super excited to try her Gypsie Rose Shampoo Bar when her shop is
back and up and running.
